The DC Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) supports District-based businesses by providing the resources, opportunities, and connections they need to start, grow, and thrive. Through programs like Made in DC, the Certified Business Enterprise (CBE) Program, Main Streets, and Clean Teams, DSLBD works to create pathways for entrepreneurship, expand access to government contracts, and strengthen local neighborhoods. Guided by Mayor Bowser’s Growth Agenda, DSLBD is committed to the retention, attraction, and growth of small businesses across all eight wards of the District.

The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (CAH) provides grants, professional opportunities, education enrichment, and other programs and services to individuals and nonprofit organizations in all communities within the District of Columbia. The Commission is supported primarily by District government funds and in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.

Known for providing a platform for bold contemporary artists, recent programs include February James’ Homecoming and Anthony Akinbola’s Monty Hall. Since 1998, CulturalDC has brokered over 350,000 square feet of artist space, owns Source on 14th Street, and operates the Mobile Art Gallery—a 40-ft shipping container gallery that has exhibited across all eight wards of the city, reaching over 100,000 visitors.

Black Public Media is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the development, production, and distribution of media content that explores the Black experience. Founded in 1979, it provides funding, training, and resources to filmmakers and content creators, amplifying diverse stories through public media platforms.

Founded by art collector and philanthropist Duncan Phillips in 1921, The Phillips Collection has been collecting modern and contemporary art for over one hundred years. Duncan Phillips’s former home—and additions to it—in Washington’s historic Dupont Circle neighborhood provides a unique setting for the growing collection of over 6,000 works. Following Phillips’s unconventional approach to exhibitions, The Phillips Collection galleries are frequently rearranged to facilitate new conversations between artworks and fresh experiences for visitors. In addition to presenting selections from the permanent collection and special exhibitions, The Phillips Collection also offers award-winning education and community engagement programs for audiences of all ages and backgrounds, including initiatives at its satellite campus Phillips@THEARC. The Phillips Collection is a private, non-government museum, supported primarily by donations.
